Client Billing
Navigation
The Client Billing page manages the financial information for the design — the fee charged, amount paid, and who receives the invoice.
Invoice Amounts
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Fee | The total design fee charged to the client |
| Paid | The amount already paid |
| Balance | Automatically calculated as Fee minus Paid |
As you edit the Fee or Paid amounts, the Balance updates in real time.
Billing Contact
When the balance is greater than zero (meaning money is owed), the page shows billing contact options:
- Same as client — the invoice is addressed to the permittee entered on the Client Permittee page
- Another person — opens the client editor so you can enter or look up a different billing contact
When the balance is zero or negative (fully paid or overpaid), the billing contact section is hidden since no invoice is needed.
Invoice Note
A free-text memo field for notes that appear on the invoice. This is only visible when a balance is owed.
Client Editor
When “Another person” is selected, the same client search and editor from the Client Permittee page appears. You can search your existing client list or enter a new contact.
Validation
This page always passes validation — all fields are optional. You can proceed without entering anything.
Effect on Downstream Pages
- Invoice tab on the Finish page — if a balance is owed (
InvoiceAmt > 0), the Invoice tab appears showing the generated invoice with the billing contact, amounts, and notes - Purchasing — the invoice amount is the basis for the purchase/payment workflow
- Design report header — the billing contact (if different from the permittee) is recorded in the design data
Tips
- If you enter a fee but the client has already paid in full, set Paid equal to Fee. The balance will be zero and no invoice will be generated.
- The invoice note is a good place for payment terms, due dates, or reference numbers.
- You can return to this page later to update payment amounts as payments are received.
